Emily Gee can offer a number of legal services

Oaths, affirmations, statutory declarations and certified copies

In addition to our main insolvency processesses and offerings, we also offer the administering of oaths and affirmations, the swearing of statutory declarations, and the certifying of copy documents.

What are oaths, affirmations, statutory declarations and certified copies?

An oath is a verbal statement of fact with wording relating to something considered sacred (a Holy Book or Scripture).

An affirmation is a verbal statement of fact without a Holy book or Scripture. You can be required to take an oath or make an affirmation when giving oral evidence or when verifying a written statement of fact. Oaths and affirmations have the same standing in legal terms.

A statutory declaration is a formal statement made affirming that something is true to the best knowledge of the person making the declaration. They are generally used to satisfy a legal requirement or regulation when no other such evidence is available.

A certified copy is a copy of a document, such as a passport, photocard driving license, etc. that has been confirmed as a true copy of the original and, where a photograph is involved, that the photograph is a true likeness to the individual. The certifier has to have seen a copy of the original document to certify that a copy is a true copy of the original.
